Step 1: Setting Your Goal

What is a goal?


A goal by definition is the result or achievement toward which effort is directed to. To obtain a desired end point in some sort of assumed development.

To me a goal is a vision where you see yourself in the future based on the actions that you do to attain that goal. A dream is not a goal, you can find a goal within your dreams but if you don't take action, it is not a goal. Dreams are imaginary they are not in a formal reality setting; they are a series of thoughts, images, and sensations that you hope for in your sleep.

So what does this mean?

What is the first thing that you think of when you wake up in the morning and the last thought on your mind before you go to bed. Observe yourself on a daily basis and take note of the things that gain your happiness. This will allow you to better target a goal that you hope to set for this challenge.

Ask yourself these questions:

What are you passionate about?

What makes you angry?

What do you want in life?

What problems do you face?


Now, once you have taken the time to evaluate yourself, it is time to choose a goal that you would like to challenge yourself to attain in 30 days. Follow the acronym TARGET in order to set a goal that you can successfully achieve.


Timely

Look at your schedule and see how busy you are. Will you make time to do something each day to get closer to your goal? Set a goal in which you will have an adequate amount of time to reach in this 30 day increment.

Attainable

This is a 30 day challenge, therefore the goal has to be realistic and achievable. Have a bigger goal? Break down that goal and construct one that you can achieve in this challenge.

Relevant

Will this goal meet your needs and benefit you in your future plans? Is it worth your while to take this 30 day challenge to commit and give it your all?

Gain

How will this goal help you in your lifetime? A goal is to help you flourish as a person, to obtain the many things that one may want in life, what are you going to gain from this goal.

Explicit

DETAILS, you need to set a detailed goal. Simply saying "I want to be a model" or "I want to lose weight" is not enough, be specific in setting your goal so you have a better outcome with this challenge.

Tough

Challenge yourself. This course is called a challenge for a reason, so push yourself to do something that will force you outside of your comfort zone to achieve.
